Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Defender track in real time?
Yes. When combined with the Advanced Data Plan, the Defender will track every 30 seconds when it is moving, providing real time tracking including speed.
How is the Defender powered
The Defender connects to the vehicle battery using the supplied power cable.
Will the Defender drain my vehicle battery?
No. The Defender uses very little power when it is stationary and also tracks its location less frequently when it is stationary, ensuring that the vehicle battery is not drained.
Can I use the Defender on other assets apart from vehicles?
You sure can. Many of our customers use the Defender on a range of assets including caravans and boats just to name a few. You could technically use the Defender to track any asset so long as there is a battery for it to connects to in order to get power.
Is the Defender waterproof?
No. The Defender is not waterproof and therefore must be located somewhere where it is protected from the elements.
Is the Defender hard to install?
The easy installation involves connecting the red and black wires of the power cable to the positive and negative nodes of the vehicle battery. If you are wanting to use any of the other wires, then we recommend engaging the assistance of an auto electrician.
